Christmas Tree For Me

The house is decorated, the menu is planned, the pooch is decked out in her Santa garb, the tree is trimmed and the music is playing. Now is the time to sit back and enjoy watching the holiday unfold in front of you. All you have to do is wrap the gifts, and feed the guest. Take time to enjoy your own creative eye. The efforts you put forth to decorate and plan for the holiday are now upon you and the best way to enjoy it all is to take it easy and relax.

Table settings for the holiday can range from the fine china for dinner to the nice and simple paper plates for snack and impromptu gatherings. Get creative. You can use settings made for the holiday that are disposable and bio friendly. This way you do not have to continue to wash dishes and use all of your fine settings for each and every meal.

Pick up a variety of paper and food service items that have a simple holiday trim. Keep a stack of plates and napkins on hand near those focal points that you have designated as food/snack points. You can use a nice small straw basket the does not need decorating. Drape a green or red cloth around the bottom of the basket and you have a place to keep them for the entire holiday. Small decorative napkins and paper plates are great for quick hors d'oeuvres and snacks. Simple plates and decorative napkins will accent the entire home and they give a nice feel to whatever you serve.

Plants and flowers are also a nice plus to any holiday setting. You can add any kind of flowers you like and they will fit without effort. Here is a tip. Buy a group of poinsettias or small plants and give them out to people as gifts when they leave. Just go to the nursery department of a store, pick up a dozen or so starter plants for about one dollar each, throw a ribbon around it and there you have it. Pick up a few small bells that you can put on the table for the meals. The traditional cornucopia will always work well and can be set in a variety of ways. Make a fruit presentation that you keep refrigerate and serve when guest come. Make one of candy canes that you set out so people can just grab and go.

The whole idea of decorating for the holiday is to set a place in your home that will be a reflection of what you want people to remember about the holiday. Holiday decorating should be a fun activity for the entire family or friends. Think about the way you approach things in general and try not to get overwhelmed with the seasons activities.

This is the time of year for you to take a breather from all of the hustle and bustle of everyday things that seem to just full your day but do not leave you much time to do anything. The resources are endless and the season is bountiful. The main thing to remember is why we celebrate Christmas. It is a special time for people all over the world.

Keep in mind the decoration that you decide to use can also be a reflection of how people in other parts of the world honor Christmas. The decorations can be soft and modern, traditional or religious. Whichever approach you take to decorating your home this year, make it a great time with good memories and much laughter and joy. Your home does not have to look like a page from fashion magazine; it can be a simple one place setting with a tree.

When you make the holiday season an extension of the joy of giving you will have a great season. You do not have to concern yourself with what you need to do. Just get into the spirit of the holiday and let the season set the pace for you. If you decide to do just one thing for the holiday give it your best and be proud of what you do. Your home is the place where you go to relax and be free from the worries of the world so it should be a fun place to be during the holiday as well.

If you will be away for the holiday you can still treat yourself to a small holiday theme by adding one or several small items in a focal point area. It can be just standing the holiday card you receive or stacking the gifts you will give alongside the gifts you have received. Holiday decorating can be stressful so watch out for your own red flags. If you are getting frustrated because you cannot accomplish that certain look you want or you cannot find a particular food item, just let it go and move on. Relax. Have fun and most of all have yourself a very merry Christmas.
